American Marxism Review

Through his book, American Marxism, Mark has tried to illustrate how the core ideas of the Marxist ideology are becoming prevalent in American culture and society. He talks about the pervasiveness of ideas of Marxism in schools, corporations, and the press and takes his argument to Hollywood, the Democratic party, and to Biden’s presidency. He talks about how these have often covered up misleading labels like democratic socialism, progressiveness, social activism, and much more.

Using his characteristic sharp analysis he discusses the psychology and tactics of such movements in depth. He talks about the brainwashing of students and the anti-American purposes of the Critical Race Theory along with the Green New Deal. He even talks about the increasing censorship and repression of opposing voices. He even takes a huge dig on many institutions, scholars, intellectuals, and activists who are leaders of such revolutions and movements. He manages to provide some counter ideas and answers to answer these individuals.

To any non-American, Mark will seem like a pro-capitalist and pro-American. Well, this is quite true. Throughout his new book- American Marxism, Mark has tried to assert the idea that how progressiveness and extreme liberty are actually hurtful for the true American sentiments. Levin writes “The counter-revolution to the American Revolution is in full force. And it can no longer be dismissed or ignored for it is devouring our society and culture, swirling around our everyday lives, and ubiquitous in our politics, schools, media, and entertainment.” This is quite clear to understand that he wants the American people to defend their liberty.

At its core, American Marxism is an attempt to reunite the differentiated American sentiments into a collective form to bring back the nation to its original national spirit. The book has received mixed reviews. Many have liked the book and gave it five stars but at the same time, many have found the book distasteful and hurtful. The book can be hurtful in particular to those who support equality of wealth and assistance at the national level. The American society is profoundly a capitalist economy or a capitalist state. There is a long drawn debate whether capitalism is helpful or not. The supporter of capitalism might find the book interesting however the non-supporters will find it really hard to digest the contents of the book.
