Both Vineeta and Anupam have a penchant for stats, while Alagh would with her tender smile be pulling her leg back from the offers.

All of this epigrammatic introduction of the 7 sharks is what we have seen, but how have their lives been is something that a lot of people don’t know yet. So, here are we bringing about some tit-bits from the lives of the judges of Shark Tank India.

Ashneer Grover | Shark Tank India Judges

Ashneer Grover, a 39-year-old kind of shoe-laced businessman who is the MD and Co-founder of Bharat Pay. He is also an IIT Delhi and IIM Madras alumni.

Ashneer was born and brought up in Delhi and it was during his college years that he got selected for IIT for B Tech in civil engineering. Ashneer was also one of the 6 students that got admitted to IIT as an exchange student for the University of Lyon Institut National Des Science Appliquees De Lyon. He moved to France back in 2002 and received a scholarship from the French embassy of 5 lakh rupee. It was in 2005 that Ashneer decided to land in one of the most reputed institutions for business management which is the Indian Institute of Management or IIM and got placed in the Kotak Investment Banking as a vice president. This was followed by a two-year tenure as being the director of American Express, followed by the Chief financial officer in Groffers back in 2015.

Anupam Mittal

Anupam Mittal is the co-founder and CEO of Shaadi.com. But, his list of sitting at the exalted position doesn’t end as he is also the CEO of People Group. Shaadi.com wasn’t Anupam’s first business endeavour as he has before created brands with generic names such as makaan.com, mauj mobile app and has invested in more than 100 companies out of which the prominent ones are the Ola cabs, Cafe Zoe, etc. 

Anupam is a Technopreneur who founded internet-based companies even before the proper advent of the internet and found success in that. In various interviews, Anupam has mentioned how peculiar the idea of starting a matrimonial website appeared to people. A very few people know that Anupam’s company People Group has also produced movies, two of which are nameworthy are 99 and flavours. 

Namita Thapar

Namita Thapar is the Executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, an Indian origin Pharmaceuticals company based out of Pune, Maharashtra. She did her schooling in Pune and then went on to pursue her Chartered Accountant degree from the Insitute of Chartered Accountants India. She later moved to Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business to get her MBA degree. Before being at a high position she worked in the USA in a Guidant Corporation. She has marked her presence in the YouTube space by creating a health chat space for women with the name Unconditional Yourself with Namita. 

Peyush Bansal

Peyush Bansal is the CEO of Lenskart, a former Microsoft employee who’s very decision to start his own company is an inspiration for many. His educational endeavours started in New Delhi, where he completed his schooling at Don Bosco n High School, afterwards he moved to Canada where he studied at the reputed McGill University, Canada. Later in his life he moved back to India to study in IIM’s Bangalore branch. Many few people know that Peyush prior to becoming the Lenskart CEO had set up Seachmycampus.com and Valyoo technologies. Both these companies specialize in glass technologies and that’s where Peyush received his expertise in the glasses industry. 

Quick facts about Peyush

  • Piyush made it to the list of Best 40 under 40 lists of Entrepreneurs.
  • His father was a chartered accountant.
  • Lenskart was founded by him in the year 2010 along with his friends Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kalpahi.

Ghazal Alagh

Ghazal Alagh is the co-founder of Mama Earth and the founder of The Derma Co. A healthcare and skincare brand that you will find many YouTubers promoting these days. Alagh was born in Gurgaon, Haryana and completed her UG degree in Computer applications from Punjab University in 2010, three years later she went to New York to  Course in Modern Art in Design and Applied Arts. Alagh founded Honasa Consumer Pvt Limited (Mamaearth) along with her husband Varun Alagh and became the company’s chief innovation officer.

Alagh’s professional career started when she got into NIIT Limited, Chandigarh and then served the company for 2.5 years. Then she went on to find a website with the name Dietexpert.com in  2012 that provided personalized diet programmes to its clients. Based on this expertise in the healthcare segment she then launched the Mama Earth brand in 2015.

Vineeta Singh

Vineeta Singh is the founder of the famous cosmetic brand Sugar Cosmetics which she founded in the year 2015. Vineeta Singh completed her schooling at DPS RK Puram. She had always been a bright student which then got reflected in her selection into IIT Madras in 2005 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. She then got admitted to another eminent institution, that is, IIM Ahmedabad from where she completed her MBA degree in 2007.

VINEETA SINGH SUCCESS STORY

Towards the end of her degree, she was offered a 1 crore job l. However, Vineeta had a much bigger vision than labouring under commands and that was establishing her own start-up.
